the internationalisation of the public relations industry.

"This honour recognises the role Prema has played in putting
the Indian public relations industry on the global map and in setting
its standards and values. We are confident that going forward PRCAI
will be the catalyst of change in the way PR will be done not only
in India but internationally as well" said Veena Gidwani, President,
PRCAI.
All twenty seven trade association members of ICCO from around the
world were eligible to nominate someone from their country, with
the final five being selected by a judging panel comprising Carlos
Lareau, President ICCO, John Saunders, Vice President ICCO; Simon
Quarendon, ICCO Secretary General and Danny Rogers, Editor PR Week
UK and Julia Hood, Editor, PR Week USA.
"Like the inaugural members of the ICCO Hall of Fame, these
individuals have made significant contributions not only to their
national PR industries, but on an international basis too",
said ICCO Secretary General, Simon Quarendon, "they have combined
cultural sensitivity with commercial acumen to create PR agencies
that balance global reach with local relevance".
Prema founded Genesis Public Relations in 1992 and her tryst with
Public Relations mirrors the journey of PR in India. She is the
founding President of Public Relations Consultants Association of
India (PRCAI), an initiative launched to consolidate a fragmented
market. Prema has been responsible for launching several internationally
benchmarked standards including the CMS (Consultancy Management
Standards) certification in India.

(IPRA), UK and has been Observer, Board Management of the International
Communication Consultancies Organisation (ICCO).
Prema strongly believes in giving back to industry so that it matures
in time to face the challenges of growth in a way that is both meaningful
and impactful. "There is no doubt that the PR industry in India
will be a key beneficiary of the economic growth that India will experience
so long as we are focussed in how we all cut the curve in our development
to face the challenges. Mere publicity is no longer the measurement
of success. Real measurable impact is the way forward," says
Prema. About ICCO
