| The Fifth
Friday Buzz, held on September 3, 2004 |
| The Friday Buzz revived after a long hiatus.
We had Mr. David Sloan
to speak on the "The Changing Scenario in USA - Does
India gain?" |
| |
| He spoke on the changing political scene
in the USA and the impact of the 9/11 phenomenon. |
| |
| He explained how the US has become inward
looking. He explored the possibility that US investments
in India will dry up or at least slow down. |
| |
There would certainly be an impact after
the change of government in India - the rapport established
between Jaswant - Strobe- Brijesh Mishra, would have to
be re-established by the new team.
According to Mr.Sloan, the emerging areas where Indian
PR consultancies could play a critical role were in Defence
sales.
He cautioned that the West was watching carefully at the
pace of Indian economic reforms, which were open to question.
The other area that needed attention was the settlement
of commercial disputes.
These take too much time and are a deterrent to foreign
investment. |
